Our Services

Our Clinical Occupational Therapy Sessions work to help children improve their ability to perform activities of daily living and self-help skills such as grooming, bathing, dressing and feeding so that they can fully participate in home, school and community activities. These sessions will entail working on sensory and functional tasks such as; children's games, handwriting, cutting with scissors, feeding skills, social story skills, self-regulation stories, and more. We are also trained in Handwriting Without Tears, Greenspan Floortime and NDT (Neurodevelopmental treatment).

We combine our clinical occupational therapy alongside our equine movement therapy, because one of the most important aspects of occupational therapy is movement. The movement of the horse is a means to assist in achieving a goal by utilizing the horse as a treatment strategy. The horse’s pelvis shares the same three-dimensional planes as the human pelvis. This movement is multi-dimensional and provides systems-wide impact.

How We Are Different

We are one of very few occupational therapy clinics in North Carolina that offers equine movement for sensory and neuromotor facilitation with functional occupational therapy tasks. At AAOT we work with each of our patients to develop a personalized plan of care based on their goals, needs and abilities.
